Continuity at major international tournaments – GoalControl commissioned by FIFA to provide goal-line technology for the fourth time.
World soccer’s governing body FIFA has commissioned GoalControl GmbH with its camera-based system “GoalControl-4D” to provide goal-line technology for the upcoming 2014 FIFA Club World Cup Morocco. It is the fourth time that the company from Würselen will provide goal-line technology at a major international FIFA tournament.
“We are delighted to continue our collaboration and with the trust FIFA has shown in us. We see this as clear acknowledgement of our performance and the reliability of our system technology,” said Dirk Broichhausen, Managing Director of GoalControl GmbH. Following the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, world soccer’s governing body was extremely satisfied with the use of goal-line technology (GLT) and considered the collaboration with the German system provider to be very positive. The system was used in all 64 matches, making soccer history.
This year’s Club World Cup takes place in Morocco from December 10-20 in two stadiums in Marrakesh and Rabat, where GoalControl has already begun with the system installations. A total of seven clubs from all the continental confederations will take part in 8 matches to determine the successor to Bayern Munich who won the title last year also in Morocco. The 2014 UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid, enter the tournament in the first semifinal as the European representatives.
The “GoalControl-4D” system, which obtained the official FIFA license in February 2013, has since been successfully used at international tournaments such as the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, 2013 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.
