Würselen, 05.21.2015. The French League opts for German goal-line technology from GoalControl.
From the forthcoming 2015/2016 season, the French League will rely on the German goal-line technology GoalControl which was successfully used at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. This was announced on 05.21.2015 by the league association LFP following a decision by the administrative board. Ligue 1 has become the first top European league to opt for the system by the company based in Würselen.
“For us, winning the contract with Ligue 1 in France is both an outstanding and strategically important success. Our overall package impressed and we are very grateful and proud that the LFP has placed its trust in us for this extremely important project,” said Dirk Broichhausen, Managing Director of GoalControl GmbH, who also highlights the future prospects of this contract: "The goal-line technology is the first step. We still have a lot to do and welcome the fact that the LFP is backing our enthusiasm for innovation and has clearly demonstrated technological vision."
The GoalControl project team - consisting of new employees who are native French speakers - has started work and is already in the process of implementing the project tasks. “We are now looking for new, competent, soccer-mad employees in many areas, such as in software/system development and match operations. Good French language skills are of course important," said Broichhausen.
