Simon Rolfes drives forward the development of goal-line technology
Aachen/Eschweiler, October 12, 2017 – Positive feedback for GoalControl technology in France: On Friday October 6 in Rennes, world soccer’s governing body FIFA carried out a so-called FIT test (FIFA Installation Test) which confirmed the correct functioning of the goal-line technology system. In the presence of the Scottish laboratory Sports Labs and a delegation of the French league association LFP, the system of Aachen-based GoalControl GmbH was again put through its paces.
“The result of the FIT test is pleasing, but we expected nothing less. The FIFA test vindicates our work. We are constantly working on the technical development of the system, in particular the camera technology and the speed of data transmission,” said Simon Rolfes, who took full control of GoalControl GmbH in the summer of 2017 with his business partner Dr. Markus Elsässer.
French League relies on GoalControl
The GoalControl system has been successfully used in France’s Ligue 1 since the 2015/16 season. GoalControl indicates in real time whether the ball was in the goal or not by sending a signal to the referee’s watch.
